Why do my pictures sometimes look grainy on screen?

The photos shown on the screen when you open the Media Album or Media Gallery, most reports, and on the main screens at the top are thumbnails. Thumbnails are compressed and contain less information, they can have a grainy appearance.

To see the photo file as it is saved to the hard drive, highlight the photo thumbnail and select Properties in Media Album. In Media Gallery, highlight the photo and double click on it or select View/Edit. If you are not making changes use Cancel to close the View/Edit screen.

When photos are printed, they are printed from the photo file, not the thumbnails.
