A. Instructions using the Chrome browser:
- Click on the following link: https://sos.splashtop.com
- The browser will open, and a file will download
- In the bottom left corner of the browser the “SplashtopSOS.exe file will appear.
- Right click on the file and select “Open.”
5. On the User Account Control screen click the “Yes” button.
- This will open the SplashtopSOS screen. A 9-digit number will be generated on this screen.
- Click on the Copy Icon located to the right of the 9-digit number
(This will copy the number to the internal Windows clipboard.)
- Return to the RootsMagic Chat screen. Right-click and paste the number into the message box and hit Enter on the keyboard.
- The RootsMagic support agent will now be able to access your computer screen.
Make sure to keep the chat screen open. This allows you to continue communicating with your RootsMagic Support Agent.
B. Instructions Using the Edge browser:
- Click on the following link: https://sos.splashtop.com
- The browser will open, and a file will download.
3. In the bottom left corner of the browser the “Splashtopsos.exe” file will appear
4. Click on the blue “Open File” link
5. On the User Account Control screen click the “Yes” button.
6. This will open the SplashtopSOS screen. A 9-digit number will be generated on this screen
7. Click on the Copy Icon located to the right of the 9-digit number.
(This will copy the number to the internal Windows clipboard.)
- Return to the RootsMagic Chat screen. Right-click and paste the number into the message box and hit “Enter” on the keyboard.
- The RootsMagic support agent will now be able to access your computer.

C. Instructions using the Firefox browser:
- Click on the following link: https://sos.splashtop.com
- The browser will open.
- The “SplashtopSOS.exe” file will appear. Click on the “Save File” button
- Click the Firefox download icon, located in the upper right corner of the browser.
- Double click on the “SplashtopSOS.exe” file.
6. On the User Account Control screen click on the “Yes” button.
7. This will open the SplashtopSOS screen. A 9-digit number will be generated on this screen
8. Click on the Copy icon located to the right of the 9-digit number.
(This will copy the number to the internal Windows clipboard.)
9. Return to the RootsMagic Chat screen. Right-click and paste the number into the message box, and hit “Enter” on the keyboard.
10. The RootsMagic Support Agent “will” now be able to access your computer.
Make sure to keep the chat screen open. This allows you to continue communicating with your RootsMagic Support Agent.
